I've made a skillet apple pie that was such a unique twist on the traditional apple pie. But nothing beats a simple apple snacking cake. I'm definitely looking forward to apples showing up at the markets soon!
ReplyDeleteI love making a twist on apple pie filling to eat on it's own for breakfast! It's just apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, a little clove, butter, whole wheat flour and some apple cider. In the oven and then on your plate!
ReplyDeleteLove the tea towel, would look good in my kitchen.
ReplyDeleteSweet Paul
First, the towel is absolutely beautiful! Now, the apple recipe - Apple Brown Betty - I've made it with Granny Smith, Macintosh and just about every other kind that I have been able to buy. This recipe reminds me of cold nights in Connecticut! Another simple use for apples that my mother would make when I was a tot: sliced apples (whatever's available) with sprinkles of cinnamon and a teensy bit of sugar - bake in the oven until just soft - a quick version of Apple Brown Betty! Yum!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite apple recipe is for individual fried apple pies. They are easy to make - you just need some rolled out dough, dried apples, and some powdered sugar. They are great for snacking. My grandmother used to make my brother and I one of these every day after school. I plan to carry on the tradition with my daughter once she is in school. Love the tea towel!
ReplyDeleteI just received your spring tote and towel as a birthday gift and love them! I loved bringing the tote to the farmer's market all summer. And your fall design is just as cute! As far as apple recipes, I have to go with barefoot contessa's apple crostada. With the flaky crust and sweet apples, It is the perfect dessert.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful way to celebrate fall (and to get the dishes dry :)
ReplyDeleteMy favourite apple recipe is simply a Bougatsa which is a Greek Pastry: warm ricotta cheese wrapped in phyllo with apples a-la-mode (of course!) :D
My favorite apple recipe is oh so simple! Just cut up some apples, put them in a baking dish, drizzle a little honey, sprinkle cinnamon, and bake. Especially good with a little granola or some nuts mixed in.
ReplyDeleteLove the tea towel!
I love making little spiced apple tartlets with the leftovers from pie crusts. Just roll out a bit of dough, toss apple slices with melted butter, spices, and honey, and bake until the apples are soft enough. Yum!
ReplyDeleteapple crisp is by far my favorite dessert to make on a simple sunday night. it is perfect for dessert and ice cream and then breakfast the next morning :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite apple recipe is my no-stress apple crumble: slice 5 apples and toss them with a tablespoon of brown sugar and a tablespoon of flour, then spread them in the bottom of a pie pan. The topping is about 1/2 cup of rolled oats, two heaping tablespoons flour, two heaping tablespoons brown sugar, chopped nuts (walnuts or almonds usually) to taste, and three tablespoons canola oil. Mix the topping ingredients together and sprinkle them on top. Bake for about an hour at 350, until the fruit is bubbling. Yum!
ReplyDeleteI just love my Granny's Apple Pie, just a simple apple pie with cream mmmmm.
ReplyDeleteI just realized I have never in my life cooked a recipe with apples [and I LOVE apples, like I eat one daily].
ReplyDeleteHowever, I will say one of my favorite things my mother has made is homemade cinnamon apple sauce.
Adore your art and your tea towel :)
Apple Harvest Cake! That or a good old carmel apple.
ReplyDeletehooray! love your work! i am a big fan of any apple crisp! YUM. thanks for a chance to win!
ReplyDeletej.
I'm no good in the kitchen in terms of baking, but I'm REALLY good at decorating the kitchen and your towel would be a lovely addition ;)
ReplyDeleteCool towel! Grandma's apple pie was awesome...i miss her.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite recipe is Apple Butter. While you are simmering the apples and cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and whatever else your house fills up with the most delicious fall smell! It works great with Pears, too. I had a tree of each when I lived in Pennsylvania.
ReplyDeleteI've never made my own, so I don't exactly have a "recipe," but my favorite apple treat is good ol' homemade apple cider. There is a farm here in Maryland where I go to pick my pumpkins and they made the most sensational cider! I always load up at their market!
ReplyDeleteMy grandma used to make apple dumplings with a tube of Pillsbury crescent rolls and apples from her tree. That was delicious!
ReplyDeleteI'd love that gorgeous towel!! Just wish I had a favorite recipe to share with you.... I've never even made the dish before!! But I do love reading everyone else's responses :-)
ReplyDeleteI love making apple-huckleberry pie. It's soo good as a pie or a crumble, both of which I made in the last couple weeks.
ReplyDeletei love the tea towel. my favorite apple recipe is the apple and carrot cake.
ReplyDeletegorgeous!!
ReplyDeletemy granny's apple cake is still the best in the world. I might have to bake it this weekend. If I win the towel I'll post the recipe!!
hello
ReplyDeleteFor me just "pomme au four". So easy.
Just the all apple, a little of water and in the oven for 1/2 hour at 1800-200 °C.
You can add sugar, dry grape, cinamon, lemon, buter, ....
But I like it, just as simple as possible!
apple pie a la mode :D
ReplyDeletei love this towel. the colors are so beet-y and delicious looking!
fall is my favorite season! i love eating apple pies, but my favorite apple recipe to make is much simpler. my family calls it apple delight. it's diced apples covered with a crust of flour, sugar, butter, and cinnamon.
ReplyDeleteI know it's unlikely I'll win again, but I might as well try, right?!! :)
ReplyDeleteFavorite apple recipe? Baked apples stuffed with nuts, cinnamon and a bit of apple juice to sweeten 'em up! YUM!
El paño de cosina es precioso. Me gusta cómo destaca el diseño sobre l fondo blanco...
ReplyDeleteMi receta con manzanas... Acabo de sacarla del horno... Hojaldre rello de manzana golden, con mantequilla y canela. ¡Deliciosas!
I love to bake my apples and eat them with goat cheese. Delicious!
ReplyDeleteI Love apple crumble with cold Ambrosia custard.
ReplyDeleteYou can never go wrong with an apple pie!
ReplyDeleteMy new venture into apple pie is adding blackberries - yum!
classic apple crumble. served with vanilla bean ice cream (and a bit of caramel if you're in the mood for super sweet).
ReplyDeleteapple pie of course but brushing the top crust with sugar water to get a amazing crispy "shell"
ReplyDeleteMmm, I think I'd have to go with a spiced apple crumble. Lots of nutmeg and cinnamon in a sticky apple filling, and a crumbly oatmeal-pecan top. Pair that with some ginger gelato or classic vanilla ice cream and YUM!
