I try to write at least once a week about an interesting person I've met. It encourages me to interact with people at the supermarket, waiters and the people I see everyday on the street. It's my own little 'homework' but I do it because I need that extra excuse to put myself out there.
ReplyDeleteI have a small notebook that I bought at the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh where I write to-do lists, events/shows I want to check out over the weekends that I read or hear about, restaurants I want to check out, names of artists that I want to look into for inspiration. Most of these are lists though and I often draw a little box that I check once I cross it off my list.
ReplyDeleteI love the first one! I would love to have one of these, they are so special and it would be great to keep all my recipes and food notes. Love it.
ReplyDeleteLove these! I can't live without my notebooks - old school marble one I use for work meetings; small leather bound one with a pretty bee imprint for important passwords; and the one that changes most often I use to jot-down ideas for food and inspiration, things to check-out, things to write about etc...Forget the computer, I am a pencil and paper kind of girl! Nina
ReplyDeletethis is quite the coincidence! my favorite journal is one that i bought about 5 years ago. on the top is a beautiful photograph of pea pods, and on the back red raspberries. i've been filling it up with recipes, and am getting to the last few pages. recipes clipped from newspapers and magazines, written in by friends, housemates, family members, old notecards taped in... it's quite a treasure to me. :)
ReplyDeleteThese are so sweet! I would use one for lists and recipe ideas!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful notebooks! I have my small sketch book which I carry with me everywhere. It's full of little doodles, ideas, notes, cut outs.... volfima [at] gmail [dot] com
ReplyDeleteMy current most treasured notebook is my travel journal. I love gluing weird things in it and water coloring.
ReplyDeletemy fav notebook is a classic (slightly boring, yes) black and white notebook that I keep notes and observations of the local community farm that i coordinate education projects and activities for.
ReplyDeleteI pick up my fave notebooks in France during back-to-school shopping season--there are lots of kinds and they're everywhere from mom & pop stationers to ginormous hypermarkets. Back here in NYC, they're great reminders of past travels. Love your new notebooks, and would choose the warmth of the craft-paper color over the cool gray.
ReplyDeleteOh, and starting a new Artist's Way round, so I really really need this! ;)
ReplyDeletea notebook I can't live without is the one I use for keeping quotes. I'm a bookworm & every time I read something extra good I just need to put it in that notebook.
ReplyDeleteI love the notebooks! I'm a bit of a notebook-aholic actually. My favorite believe it or not is a spiral one from Muji, with a white plastic cover, and white pages inside with small dots that simulate a graph paper effect. I have multiple, one is for blog notes, another is for mood board cuttings, and another is for my to-do list.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to add yours to my collection!
I have a small notebook that contains my inspiration scribbles, shapes, words, anything that makes my brain excited. treatment of my recipes is a whole 'nother story, as they are jumbled in a random pile somewhere. hah! so i need this beautiful creation!

ReplyDeleteI have this hardcover journal that looks like a vintage copy of "Pride and Prejudice." In it, I provide a safe house for my short stories, photographs, journal entries, as well as fabric swatches, paint chips, and ideas for future craft projects. It's hands-down my most prized possession.
Gorgeous, Claudia, I love it! It's much too pretty to use for shopping lists.
ReplyDeleteMy current favorite journal is a small, hardcover 5-year diary where that you write just a few lines in every day.
Beautiful! I always use journals for recipes, so this is perfect.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely! I'm always scribbling down thoughts or notes to myself in my notebooks or in actual books (which gets me in trouble). My most memorable & perfect notebook was a travel journal given to me by my sister. It was waterproof, pocket-sized and cheerfully patterned.

ReplyDeleteIn answer to your question... My most favourite notebook is one of my grandmas from when she was at school. It was found when we cleared her house after she passed away many moons ago.
It has such lovely watercolour pictures of feathers, beads and simple still life compositions.

ReplyDeleteI love journals and notebooks and keep them in my purse, by my bed, in my coat and on any bookshelf in the house and studio. It's hard to pick a favorite, but my current go-to journal has a kicky Barcelona design on it and—since I bought it in a little shop off La Rambla—it reminds me of tapas and sunshine while I wait for Vermont snow to melt and jot thoughts, notes and sketches for new ideas to make in the studio.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite journal is always the newest one of the group. All those blank pages are inspiring. It's a blast to go through the filled ones, see how certain illustrative/design ideas keep showing up.

My most treasured notebook would be one I picked up many years ago at an Indigo book shop. I loved the green colour and the patterns on it and I liked the idea that you could rip pages out of it without damaging it. I originally bought it to write about my travel adventures, but it's turned into an everything book from inspiring quotes to poems to recipes and songs, etc.
ReplyDeleteYou have a lovely blog and I'm glad I discovered it.
That is a lovely notebook!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite notebook is an old moleskin with unlined pages. I don't write in it page-by-page, I like to open to a random spot in the book, jot down an idea, a thought, a doodle, and then close it. It makes flipping through the pages fun!
ReplyDeleteMy most treasured notebook is a little leather bound book with handmade recycled pages. I used it to write in when I was ages 14-18, those crazy, influential and amazing years. It is so packed with extra pages and flowers and yarn and randomness and each pages is so full you can't even see the paper. It's like a story of my life, and I love it.
