Commissioned Portraits

As I mentioned earlier, I think I've been so absorbed with my new print work that have forgotten to connect with my painting in a while.
So I thought I'd show some pieces that have been commissioned over the last few years and one that has recently been finished (unfortunately it's still slightly incomplete in the picture).
I've also done pieces for wedding invites which I will feature later.

Marlon, Camella, Kaleo and Ginger commissioned for their new cafe, Picnic.
This piece was done on wood and measures approx 28" x 20"

Sammy, Seko and Habana for a birthday gift

Mark, Sarina and Elijah Green for a holiday card

More from Renegade

Good morning on an extremely rainy, stormy day.

It was such a treat to discover the work of Anna Bond of Rifle at Renegade. I think what initially attracted me to her work is her bold, flat painting style when I have recently been looking at so much graphic print work.
I love her hand type and custom wedding pieces.

As a painter myself who has been focusing more recently on drawing it made me realize how much I need to bring this back to the forefront again. There is nothing that gives me more pleasure than sitting down with my acrylics and mixing those colors.

Renegade Craft Fair

This weekend was the 5th annual Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn and I spent a pleasant few hours on Sunday wandering through it in the sun.
I met a few great designers, some of which I was familiar with and some new to me.

Over the week I will be posting about these artists so first up is Laura George.
She paints and draws creating these magical, mythical worlds where creatures live amongst trees and nature.
Her flat works in gouache take on a more screen printed graphic feel and her Creature-Friend Series is wonderful.

Ben Cooper

A good friend of mine, Ben Cooper, moved from London to Sydney a few years ago and is now working as a senior digital strategist at The Population, a digital communication company. To my recent discovery he also takes great photos and I saw these on his blog this week.
My favorite is the gate.

Egg Press

I had the good fortune to meet Tess Darrow at the NSS who works with Egg Press in Portland, Oregon.
They are celebrating their 10th year of producing handcrafted letterpress greeting cards on antique presses. In addition to cards, they produce screen printed baby tees and design and print memorable custom wedding and birth announcements.

The pieces that grabbed my attention where the adorable stitch kits for kids. They come in 3 fabulous animals and have easy to follow instructions. two pieces of hand-screen printed canvas, ready to stitch by hand or machine.

I also love the father's day cards-they made me chuckle.
